What Our Students Say

Patricia C.

My Son has been taking violin lessons at LB for over 4+ years. The reason we keep coming back is plain and simple.. They are great! The teachers are patient and knowledgeable in what they do and how they teach their students. My son started out with Jane Park as his teacher.. she was awesome.. then she went onto other ventures and we now have ABE.. He is amazing.. my son talks about "how cool" he is. My son feels safe, confident and eager to learn which makes me feel happy to be a part of the LB community.

My 8 year old son has been taking music lessons at LB for almost a year and I can't tell you how happy it has made him. Little background, my son has autism and adhd. To say he struggles is putting it mildly. He strives to be like his peers and do the things they do, but unfortunately some of his struggles just make that too difficult for him. We tried soccer and t-ball. Those just ended with him in tears feeling defeated. Music has always been something that interests and soothes him. So, we thought we'd give lessons(he likes to sing)a try if he was on board. Since our initial email the teachers and staff at LB have accepted my son with open arms. I can 100% guarantee the half hour he is in his lesson he is striving. He is happy and gets to express himself without being judged. He is included and pushed to shine. He gets to be himself and the rewards we get from that are priceless!

LB Music school is the best. Lessons are reasonably priced and the instructors are knowledgeable. I love their open mic nights. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

What age should my child be when they begin working with a cello teacher?

Our cello teacher, Minjung, is not afraid to work with younger students. She is also a multi instrumentalist that teaches violin and piano.

For younger children ages 4-6, we recommend an introductory cello lesson with Minjun to make sure that student and teacher are a good fit.

If Minjung thinks a student should start on violin or piano first, she will make that recommendation.

What is the goal of beginner lessons with a cello teacher?

For beginning students, Minjung’s main goal is to lead them to appreciate and love music for the rest of their life. A good understanding of basics goes a long way and she chooses materials based on the student’s skill and their preference.
